“Revitalizing Communities Through Single Family Home ownership” “A Non-Profit HUD Approved Comprehensive Housing Counseling Program”

For decades the church has been the foundation of the African-American Community. The church has continuously supported the spiritual, human, educational, and economic development of its community. When other institutions have fallen, the church has remained steadfast. In recent years, churches have begun taking an active role outside their sacred walls by creating various programs and initiatives to help those in need.

With the increasing number of slum and blighted communities, homeless persons, drug traffic on neighborhood streets and playgrounds, high levels of diminished economic opportunities for residents, and unemployment rates in today’s society, many churches have established their own human service organizations. Mount Bethel Baptist Church is no exception. In 1997, under the effective leadership of Dr. C. E. Glover, Mount Bethel created its own community development corporation.

New Visions Community Development, Inc. is a 501c(3) not-for-profit organization. It was created to develop decent, safe, sanitary, affordable single-family housing and to rehabilitate existing homes for low and moderate-income persons. In addition, the program facilitates free home ownership workshops to prepare, educate, and inform first time home buyers and those who are interested in home ownership.
